From the beginning until today... A History:

At age 6, Heidi Joy entered her first singing contest in Omaha's Show Wagon, winning 1st place in her age division, and landing her picture in the Omaha World Herald for the very first time. Little did she know, then there would be many more times to follow.

Growing up, Heidi Joy enjoyed singing at home and in school. When the opportunity arose for an 8th grade audition, she quickly entered and won the chance to sing a solo, Flashdance... What a Feelin, in the school's production. This was Heidi Joy's second time on stage.

In High School, Heidi Joy was cast in Lead Roles as 'Marian the Librarian' in The Music Man, and 'The Narrator' in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Heidi Joy sang solos in her high school's Road Show and acclaimed A Cappella group. Heidi Joy began singing in her church choir at the age of 15, where her fan base really began.

After three years of studying Opera Performance at the University of Iowa School of Music, Heidi Joy returned to Omaha to begin her recording career. In 1999, Heidi Joy released her first CD, Over My Head, with a complimentary Champagne & Hors D'oeurves concert at a local Country Club. To say the Club was "packed" would be an understatement. "The people were squished like sardines," recalls Heidi Joy as fans lined up to have their albums autographed. 1,500 copies of Over My Head sold in the first four weeks of its release, a good number for an Omaha singer.

Before long, Heidi Joy's gig calendar was filled with Wedding Ceremonies, Receptions, and even Funerals. Her voice was said to "make you cry", "cause goosebumps", and "heal the soul". Heidi Joy was also Lead Vocalist with the Chuck Penington Band and began booking her own Heidi Joy Jazz Band originally with Pianist Tim Tyler, for corporate and public events.

In 2000, Heidi Joy released her second CD, Holiday Joy, which included 'Gesu Bambino', a beloved song she began singing as a Duet with her mother five years earlier. This CD Release Concert, aptly named Heidi Joy's Holiday Joy, sold-out the Rose Blumkin Theater. It was such a success, Heidi Joy decided to make Heidi Joy's Holiday Joy an annual event held just after Thanksgiving.

During the next decade, Heidi Joy released three more albums, People Get Ready (Live at The Rose), I'll Take a Melody, and lastly a duet Christmas CD with piano, entitled Heavenly Peace. Without an agent or manager, she worked hard to market herself and keep her fans up-to-date with her career. Heidi Joy was now a full-time Professional Musician, performing as many as 190 times a year.

Heidi Joy's Holiday Joy grew ever-more popular, gradually moving to larger theaters, and ending its 10-year run with a bang at Omaha's state-of-the-art Holland Performing Arts Center.

In 2010, Heidi Joy moved to Florida with her husband, where she continues her career, from a new place and with a new perspective. She is currently writing original music. The next Chapter is unknown...
